Contributions to a wiki may be welcomed ("warm" reaction) or rejected ("cold" reaction) and there is a large gray zone in between the extremes. There are good reasons ''not'' to welcome each and every contribution or visitor but in general we may assume that a wiki will develop better in a warm and helpful atmosphere.

* patiently explain to newcomers written or unwritten rules of the wiki, and transform criticism into feedback: CriticismIsFeedback
* show interest in everything that happens (newcomers, ideas, contributions) by participating (BarnRaising)

* help anyone move a ShallowPage or text in BrainstormMode out of its transitory status
* DefendEachOther if someone is offended (or attacked without reason, ...)
