This is the page for those who enjoy creating new wikis or who want a fun-to-raise wiki "baby". You can put wiki projects here or you can look for wikis to participate in.

Typically wikis are advertized at a later stage, because normal users expect impressive content and it's usually not good to show it too early. But MeatBall is not for normal people. It may be rewarding for future community builders to participate in projects before starting their own wiki. It may be good for experienced wiki builders to help others and get support for their own future projects. Just as with raising barns or building houses there are tasks that are tedious if you have to do them alone (see BarnRaising).

On http://wikiwikiweb.de/ are some new wikis needing help - most of them are in german language, 1 english yet.

The questions are
Who is asking for this help?
Why don't you describe your wiki projects and the help you need in detail?
Will you remember the help you get and give it back someday?
??? -- HelmutLeitner

This is a bit specialized, which makes help even more welcome. [ThinFilmWiki] covers the business and technology of the semiconductor and other thin film manufacturing industries. Both suggestions and larger contributions would help me (a) figure out what role the site could play in the industry and (b) get things rolling. Thanks in advance! -- KatherineDerbyshire

Katherine, I'm sorry that I have zero knowledge about your topic, so I can't help you directly. But I may point you to the basic problem of any wiki enterprise: how to build the trust into your project. The trust users need to have before they put their expert knowledge into your system. The trust that their contributions will increase in value and be save for many years in the future. To set up a free seed wiki and create a few pages won't typically create the trust you need. You need to create a vision in time and space, draw a vivid picture about your personal - or your employers commercial - dedication to make your wiki a permanent and sucessful institution. -- HelmutLeitner

Some of that trust exists already, in that I'm a fairly well known commentator on the industry. Some of it requires that I have a good understanding of what I want to accomplish with the wiki, which I'm still figuring out. On further reflection, (July 2003) I've moved the wiki under the umbrella of my own site, mostly because SeedWiki broke their software and it's easier to move than figure out what they did. -- KatherineDerbyshire

Old requests can be put into the WikiRaisingRequestsForHelpArchive.
