Wiki users collaborate to write wiki pages. This needs a consensus about how to do this because conflicts about how a page contents are not productive. In 1995 only
DocumentMode was the suggested way to collaborate. Later
ThreadMode was accepted to allow for discussions. Further modes are being invented and explored.
Known wiki collaboration modes
- DocumentMode -- to build consensual, factual, "neutral point of view" content
- ThreadMode -- similar to a forum discussion, usually built from signed indented paragraphs
- BrainstormMode -- a temporary stage to collect ideas before a more proper page is built
- MaintainerMode -- lets an author or group of authors control the content of a page
- AgreementMode -- a careful way of seeking consensus before doing things
- ContributionMode? -- the addition of more material (generally a small amount, to distiguish this mode from others -- e.g. this line.)
- HolisticMode? -- a mode that integrates income (development) for all participants in the sense of CreateAndShareWealth as e.g. on ExtremeOpenBusiness / Google:ExtremeOpenBusiness , currently an extremely rare mode (2008/06/21) -- FridemarPache
It's up to the wiki community to decide on which modes to use or accept.
