The Italian language branch of the WikiPedia is one of the oldest and has been growing slowly and steadily from the start in 2001. It has been on the BiggestWiki list since May 2003.

As of September 2003, it still runs the UseModWiki software and hasn't been converted to the WikiPedia PHP code base.

Due to a failure of the server that used to host the UseMod-based Wikipedias, the old *.wikipedia.com addresses no longer work. Until redirects are put in place, only this link will work:
