TheInternet is a very large, constantly growing group of interconnected networks of computers (hence the name: "Inter - net[works]") that share information. The information shared is usually determined by the owner of each computer or computer network.
TheInternet runs on TCP/IP and protocols including Gopher, HTTP, and IRC (depending on who you ask). The WorldWideWeb, by contrast, includes only HTTP information.
