The
ValueChain is the
chain of steps and processes a business takes to create economic
value between its suppliers and its customers. For instance, a soup manufacturer takes raw inputs of food, metal and energy and produces a bunch of soup cans that consumers buy. The value to the buyers comes from a preferred recipe, bulk purchases of the food to create economies of scale, and saved time to prepare a meal. An example on the Internet, companies like
EbayDotCom create a value chain by connecting potential sellers to potential buyers efficiently, by creating a large block of buyers and sellers, and by organizing the buyers and sellers (and a lot more too).
