As CritDotOrg is currently (2006/11/4) inactive, the following reflection may be applied to WikiAnnotationMediator:

Let WikiForums be the boilerplate, where contributions happily react with each other, even on the character level and a public annotation system like CritDotOrg the place, where original contributions (relatively) persist.

On Wiki, text naturally might change faster, because many contributors can edit the common unprotected text space. On CritDotOrg only originators can edit their own contributions.

In both media people can easily publish, update and interlink their contributions for the mutual benefit.

Both systems offer specific collaboration opportunities, but working together as a pair they reach their full potential.

Now enjoy, how this text evolves in Wiki and in CritDotOrg [1] ...

Someone's raising the barrier to entry again... I can smell it.

On the contrary, use Wiki as usual. If in addition you want to do some more, use CritDotOrg to annotate Wiki in public. With [1] you get the CritDotOrg'ed embedding of this page.

Comments:

The author relocated his contribution from Wiki:ChangeAndPersistenceReconciledInPublic to MeatballWiki, because the topic has a richer context on the target wiki. Since the twinpage-related source Wiki leaves an automatic link to the new target, there is no harm to the link integrity of the source Wiki: -- FridemarPache
