WikiA est une WikiFerme libre supportée par la publicité et une CommunautéEnLigne fondée par CraoWiki:JimmyWales (le fondateur de WikiPedia) et CraoWiki:AngelaBeesley
In 2019, the site decided to embrace the fact that it was primarily being used for FanWikis and rebranded to fandom.com - this came with major site design reworks.
Through the early 2020s, the site became increasingly ad-riddled to the point where some considered it unusable, and many communities began to look towards migrating away. However, FandomDotCom? used a great deal of SEO to appear higher in search results than independent wikis, and FandomDotCom? sysops consistently deleted attempts by several communities to post links to where they were migrating to. In at least one case, said sysops forcibly reversed a wiki deletion and restored the site from backup. This was legally allowed due to the site text being licensed under Creative Commons, but it incensed lowercase-f fandom.
A successful migration to an independent wiki was pulled off by BlaseballWiki? in 2021. An extended, very slow campaign of vandalism - replacing images, changing the site skin, and deleting templates over a period of months - slowly made the FandomDotCom? wiki more and more unusable, and eventually the wiki was deleted by the sysops. However, note that this was an extended campaign of administrator vandalism; vandalism by users would merely result in bans.
