Example (ProWiki-software):
The update intervall can be slower (e. g. once a day) or faster (every 5 or 10 minutes). The updates should be rather frequent, so that RC and RSS are usable. Tuning the mirror software module a little more, even an update every minute should be feasible without a significant performance problem.
One could refine the system be redirecting edit accesses to the original. One could configure a different logo image, so that the mirror status is immediately visible. The example given above is just for prototyping and testing.
I see the main advantage of a WikiMirror in providing additional safety to the contributors that their contributions can't get lost e. g. by a server failure. It could also implement a distributed situation among trusted members who always have a complete personal copy of the system. It could also be used as a (WikiSpam, DOS attack) defense - imagine a dozen systems but only one system is in charge and only those contributors who know which mirror is the original (this could change in a kind of token-passing) are able to change content permanently. -- HelmutLeitner
