FridemarPache: Feel free to visit the HTML representation of the [CMapsSandbox], where the main node is called FridemarsSandbox?. I have tentatively made a concept to a yet not existing Concept, named NathanielsSandbox?, asking Nathaniel to create a Cmap, called NathanielsSandbox?, such that we two can bilink our Sandboxes there. As surprise I have successfully uploaded an *.swf file (a flash format, which YouTube doesn't support (yet), and nearly no video provider supports, but MIT might support it for its Open Courses, due to its excellent scripting possibilities). Can somebody please check it, if downloading/streaming at your computer works? Hey, on my Mac+FireFox? it worked :-)
NathanielThurston: I finally got it to work. My sandbox is at your suggested location, and the [html version] is also available. I've set the folder permissions to allow anyone to edit, if you want to experiment.
FridemarPache: Wonderful, thank you. Your sandbox connected to my sandbox. How did you make it? Did you use the Soup Server?
NathanielThurston: I'm not sure what you mean by the Soup Server. It's at Places/users/IHMC Cmappers/nathaniel/sandbox.
FridemarPache: Soup Server = Knowledge Soup Server. I am just struggeling to get a picture of what is going on. My problem is the following. You appear to be in another directory and I currently can't see a way how to connect to Cmap resources outside of the Cmappers directory. Fortunately you had found a way to make the connection. Can you enlighten us how you managed it, such that I can link my sandbox back to yours.
NathanielThurston: I copied the url from this page, clicked on "add web address", and pasted the URL there. I also tried editing your sandbox, and creating a cmap there, but the system said I wasn't authorized.
FridemarPache: Exactly, that's the point. We need a shared directory to bilink.
NathanielThurston: I've set the permissions of my directory to 'Everyone' can do 'anything'. We might be able to bilink there.
FridemarPache: Meanwhile I have bilinked back with "Nathaniels Html Bilinking". Considering the fledgling Cmappers community, your adhoc method works as an excellent kind of data encapsulation.
NathanielThurston: I now have a direct link. add/edit links to resources; places -> IHMC Cmappers/users/nathaniel/sandbox if you want a "real" link back to mine.
FridemarPache: Now I entered your sandbox. Welcome to enter my sandbox. Now we have established "real" bilinks on both sandboxes. :-) "BiLinked Cmaps" How shall we call them.
...
FridemarPache: Nathaniel did you notice how clumsily Cmaps handles external links (if there is not a better way, we may have missed). We wikizens are accustomed to a much more friendly way. We need an improved Cmap software, that automatically creates the external BiLinks. E.g. When CmapAuthor?1 uses a concept, named ConceptA?, then the system produces a "?"-link, if this concept is not yet in the common database (that might be an accidentally distributed database over the Web e.g. in form of a GoogleTagWiki. Yes, this is possible, if we use e.g. VeryLongHighPrecisionTags AND TheCarriersOfVeryLongHighPrecisionTagsAreCmapQualifiedToaLevelThatCanBeUsedForParametricFilteringTogetherWithOtherFilterParameters?). ( Test: Google:TheCarriersOfVeryLongHighPrecisionTagsAreCmapQualifiedToaLevelThatCanBeUsedForParametricFilteringTogetherWithOtherFilterParameters ) If it is in the common database you automagically get a filterable list of targets. With a little AI, the filter parameters are (partially) generated from the context topology of the local Cmap (knowledge base). Additionally we could canonicalize the author-specific concepts by inverse URLs like the Java community does it. I make this note a Diigo annotation, that nobody claims this simple idea as a patent, locking the future to useful open source developments:-)
NathanielThurston: Fridemar, I'm a little uncomfortable using the Google global namespace for links -- it's too easily subverted by spammers and the like if it ever gains popularity. As suggested in your edit of my sandbox, I tried to edit your sandbox, but was unable to save changes.
FridemarPache: Just liberalized my permissions on Google:CmappersCommunityInitiative to "everyone", with inheritance to subfolders, as you did. It should work now. To mute spammers, whe have Google:GoogleSearchWiki; its years that I suggested to the Google community to wikify the Google engine and their Google:Notebook (s) See [Markmail:WikifyGoogle]. As additional motivation, how well GoogleTags work, even without the Google:GoogleWikiSearch, please look how prominent this simple CamelCase comes up.
NathanielThurston: I understand now about google tag combinations. I tried again to modify your sandbox, but was unable as it's not in the community initiatives folder. I'd also advice any collaborators to keep a local copy of edited CMaps -- we've got no audit trail or reversibility of changes.
FridemarPache: Nathaniel, you are right. My sandbox was not pathed as following: ../IHMC CMappers/Users/fridemar/CmappersCommunityInitiative/FridemarsSandbox.cmap . (I was away from KB for a longer time than expected). Hey Nathaniel. What page was re-indexed? After our successful test I suggest to test together <-> GoogleSearchWiki. For this test, every wikizen here must have an google account. We now can make our public comments on any (Cmaps-related) Google search-result, can mute irrelevant Google "hits" and promote our topics on top of the collectivly operated search-results.
NathanielThurston: Fridemar, as a workaround for the lack of an audit trail or reversibility of changes to cmaps, I have modified the permissions of my CMappers folder to allow only me and you to make changes; and I've also made a "public" folder to hold edits by other interested parties. This way, anyone can make a change and save the edit to the public folder, and trusted collaborators can make edits directly.
NathanielThurston: At 24May2009 21:54 UTC, all of the 'n' pointed to this page.
Has somebody a Macro Editor at hand to complete the table?
