SeeAlso has been used to flag a set of pages or links (usually within the same Wiki, but not always) that are related to the current page. This practice originated on
WikiWiki, but it is now discouraged there (see
Wiki:SeeAlso).
It is discouraged here, as well, because:
- SeeAlso provides no benefit as a ReverseIndex.
- It adds no useful information that the plain text "See also" does not already convey.
- The link suggests the transition words "See also" are important, when really the referent itself is the really important information. Making "See also" into a link entices readers to visit the page SeeAlso, which is a distraction and misdirection. AvoidClutterLinks.
Smashing together "SeeAlso" is extremely useless. It's an abuse of the LinkPattern. It has an information efficiency of less than zero. Don't do it. If you see it, break the link. -- SunirShah
SeeAlso was once the name of ZwikiClone's TwinPages implementation. It is now called ZWiki:SisterSites, after Wiki:SisterSites.
